Tarot cards are wonderful tools for unpicking the past, understanding current situations, and looking into the future.
But, as useful as they can be, many people fear tarot cards as they worry about the cards that will come up for them and what these cards might mean.
There are a lot of negative connotations around certain tarot cards, whereas other cards are perceived as inherently positive.
While there may be some truth in this, it’s important to remember that the meaning of the cards you pull can change depending on the context of the reading.
And, it’s also worth bearing in mind that different tarot readers will perceive the cards differently.
In this guide, I’ll talk you through the most universally-accepted positive tarot cards.
The Most Positive Tarot Cards
There is a selection of tarot cards that, if drawn in a reading, almost always indicate a good outcome.
But, as I mentioned above, the meaning of a card really does depend on the context of the reading.
Let’s take a look at some of the most positive tarot cards to draw in a reading.
1. The Sun
Let’s start with the beautiful Sun card.
In the Original Rider Waite tarot deck, the Sun tarot card features a curly-haired, cherub-like child riding a horse. There are sunflowers in the background and a beautiful, big sun featured.
This card oozes positivity and it’s one of my favourite cards to pull in a reading.
If you draw the sun tarot card, you can be sure that good things are ahead for you.
This card is here to bring you strength and show you that you can expect happiness and joy.
2. The Star
Another of my favourites, The Star tarot card depicts a naked blonde woman pensively emptying one jug of water into a body of water and another onto the land. She is surrounded by beautiful white stars and one large yellow star.
This card comes in to remind you who you really are, underneath everything – you are made of the stars and that is truly magical.
It brings with it a calming of emotions and a sense of peace – especially if you’ve recently been through turmoil.
You are entering a period in your life where you can feel inspired and hopeful.
You may now be on a positive journey of personal development and growth.
3. The World
If you were to ask me ‘what is the most positive tarot card?’ – I wouldn’t hesitate to answer with ‘The World’.
The World is a wonderful card to pull in a reading.
It shows a naked woman wrapped in a cloth and surrounded by a wreath. There are images of a lion, an eagle, a bull, and an angel.
There is a lot of symbolism in this card, and how it is interpreted will depend on the reader, but for me, this card serves as a reminder that you have the whole world at your fingertips.
You can do anything you want to in this life if you put your mind to it.
With strength from the lion, guidance from the angel, determination from the bull, and foresight from the eagle, you have everything you need to achieve your goals.
This card can also indicate that you are about to travel and it can also suggest that new beginnings await you.
4. The Lovers
The Lovers tarot card is particularly positive for those who are seeking love or for those who are already in a relationship.
This card depicts a naked man and woman, turned towards each other, with their palms open, but facing up at an angelic being atop the clouds. There is a large sun behind them.
There is also symbolism related to Adam and Eve present on this card.
The Lovers card can represent the dawning of a new relationship. If you are already in a relationship, it can indicate that you are entering a time where you will reconnect, become closer or more intimate with your partner.
The man and woman are both in their most vulnerable form and thus, they are able to show each other who they are in their entirety.
5. Wheel Of Fortune
Generally speaking, the Wheel Of Fortune can be viewed as a positive tarot card.
Pictured, you will see a wheel with Hebrew lettering and symbols for salt, water, mercury and sulphur. Surrounding the wheel are clouds, a snake, the Egyptian Gods Anubis (God Of The Dead), Typhon (the God Of Evil), an eagle, a lion, a bull, and an angel.
There is a lot of powerful symbology with this card and, as such, it can have mixed meanings, depending on the rest of the reading.
However, there is a lot of positive interpretations we can take from this card, namely that life is in a constant state of motion. Nothing stays bad, or even good, for too long – change is always on the way.
This tarot card is closely related to Karma and therefore asks you to act from a place of kindness and grace, always.
It can also act as a reminder that you manifest your thoughts, so if you want to achieve positive things in life, send positive thoughts into the universe and know that you are being guided.
6. Ace Of Cups
The Ace Of Cups is a really positive tarot card to draw.
It features a hand reaching from the clouds (from spirit or from the Universe) to offer up a chalice that is overflowing with water.
This card is here to remind you that you are loved and cared for by your loved ones in spirit and by the Universe.
You are in a good place to love yourself and to give and receive love.
The water can represent how your emotions are flowing positively and with ease, but this card can also represent new opportunities in life – whether that be in your relationships or at work.
7. Three Of Cups
The Three Of Cups depicts three women celebrating and raising a toast.
This card reminds you of the positive female relationships you have in your life – in your family or in your friendship circle- and encourages you to enjoy one another.
You have a strong support network of women in your life, and that’s a beautiful thing.
The Three Of Cups wants you to let your hair down a little and go out and have a good time with your nearest and dearest.
8. Ten Of Cups
The 10 Of Cups is a wonderful card to get in a reading.
It features a happy family – the parents with their arms around one another, and the children playing – looking at everything they have around them. There is a beautiful rainbow above them, filled with 10 cups.
This card focuses on happiness and joy, particularly with your family. You are surrounded by wonderful people whom you have a strong connection with and you are very much loved.
This is a harmonious card and may often appear when you are planning to create happy memories with your family.
9. Ace Of Pentacles
The Ace Of Pentacles shows a hand coming out of the clouds and offering up a pentacle.
This card is again representative of new opportunities and new beginnings and positive change in your life, but, more specifically, this card hones in on your finances.
The Ace Of Pentacles is an indication that prosperity may be heading your way. This may be a lump sum of money, a payrise, or some other material gain.
10. Four Of Wands
The Four Of Wands shows two people happily celebrating. The four wands pictured are holding up a wreath.
This card is an indication of your hard work paying off. Be proud of what you’ve achieved.
It also asks you to spend time celebrating with the people you love. As such, it can also symbolize a birthday, an engagement or a wedding, an anniversary or a reunion of some kind.
11. Ten Of Pentacles
The Ten Of Pentacles depicts an elderly man and his dog companions in the foreground, with people chatting in the background. There are ten coins (or pentacles) on the card.
This card can feel quite chaotic, but it is another positive financial symbol.
If you’ve been working hard towards something for quite some time, now is your opportunity to take stock of what you’ve achieved and be proud of how far you’ve come.
This card reminds you that you are financially stable and you can share your gains with the people you love.
Final Thoughts
Despite common fears, there are plenty of positive tarot cards that can come up in a reading. But it all depends on the reader and the context of the rest of the cards.
