Can Rose Quartz Go in Water? A Full Guide To Cleansing Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz is a wonderful healer. It’s very adaptive and can be used for the heart chakra and for many other purposes.

I often use Rose Quartz for peaceful sleep, but it can also be used to calm the mind and to attract love. It’s a beautiful crystal to keep around the home to instil calming and peaceful vibes.

To keep benefiting from Rose Quartz’s gentle healing powers, it’s important you look after the crystal by cleansing and charging it on a regular basis.

There are so many different ways you can cleanse your Rose Quartz. Here, I’ll take a look at the best ways to do this, including whether it’s possible to cleanse this crystal with water.

Why Do I Need To Cleanse Rose Quartz?

Rose Quartz, like most other crystals, will retain energy. This can be both positive and negative energy.

In order to get the most from any crystal, it’s important to cleanse it of energy and sort of re-set it ready for it’s next use. Otherwise, the crystal may not work as well as you intended – if at all.

When you first get any crystal, it’s imperative you cleanse it. Just think about the journey your crystal has been on: from where it was mined, to somewhere to be shaped or treated, before it is passed onto a retailer.

And, when the crystal has been in a shop, it will have been absorbing energy from anyone who touched it, or even passed by. So cleansing it before you start to work with your new Rose Quartz really is essential.

And regularly cleansing your Rose Quartz after this will keep it in top performance mode.

How To Cleanse Rose Quartz

There are many ways to cleanse your Rose Quartz, and I would recommend using whatever feels best for you.

I often use the smudging technique for my own crystal collection and this is my preferred method.

Although sometimes, I will just cleanse my crystals of energy using Selenite or Clear Quartz, especially if I’m using them out and about.

Here are some ideas for how you can cleanse your own Rose Quartz crystals:

  • Smudge with homegrown herbs
  • Smudge with an incense stick
  • Bury your crystal in the ground
  • Use Selenite
  • Use Clear Quartz
  • Place your crystal in a bowl of salt
  • Place your Rose Quartz in a bowl of brown rice
  • Cleanse with water

Can Rose Quartz Go In Water?

Rose Quartz is rated at around a 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. This means that, along with other crystals from the same family like Citrine and Amethyst, Rose Quartz is perfectly fine to cleanse in water.

Be sure to use clean water, preferably running water – like a natural stream – to cleanse your crystals. If you don’t have access to a stream, then bottled or filtered water will work well.

How Long Can Rose Quartz Go In Water For?

Rose Quartz will be fine in water for a little while, but there’s really no need to leave your crystal submerged for long in order for it to be perfectly cleansed.

As I mentioned in the section above, the most beautiful way to cleanse your Rose Quartz with water is using a clean, running stream – and this would only take a matter of moments for your crystal to feel the powerful healing benefits of Mother Nature through the water.

But equally, if you’re cleansing at home with filtered water, simply running the water over your crystal should suffice.

By leaving your Rose Quartz submerged, it is sitting in the water that contains the negative energies you’re clearing it off. It’s much better for the water to run over the crystal for the energy to be washed away.

Can Rose Quartz Go In Salt Water?

A dip in salt water shouldn’t do your Rose Quartz too much harm, but I wouldn’t recommend making this a regular deal. And equally, I wouldn’t recommend leaving your Rose Quartz in salt water for long, if you do intend to cleanse it this way.

A far better and safer way to cleanse your Rose Quartz would be selecting one of the methods from above.

Alternatively, if you really want to use salt, as many people who practice witch craft do, then why not fill a bowl with rock salt and simply sit your Rose Quartz on top of it to allow the salt to absorb the unwanted energy?

Remember that it’s super important to thoroughly rinse your crystal if it does come into contact with salt.

How To Charge Rose Quartz

The best method for charging Rose Quartz, in my opinion, is by using moonlight.

Rose Quartz is bursting with gentle, feminine energy – and you know what? So is the moon. So this makes them a perfect pair.

Place your Rose Quartz outside, or on a window sill, under the full moon to allow it to fully, and naturally, charge.

Remember to set your intentions when you are ready to work with your Rose Quartz again – and only AFTER it has been cleansed and charged.

Top tip: Try to keep your Rose Quartz out of the sunlight as much as possible, and avoid using this as a charging method. Why? Well too much exposure to the sun’s rays can make your Rose Quartz fade sadly.

Final Thoughts

Rose Quartz is the perfect healer for every crystal collection – whether you’re a beginner or a pro, this crystal will have a multitude of uses for you.

But, for your crystal to take care of you, you need to take care of it in return.

There are many ways you can cleanse your Rose Quartz crystal – with water being just one of them. Remember, avoid using salt water though, and keep your crystal out of the sun.
