These are my 5 favourite methods for cleansing this crystal:
Using Selenite Or Clear Quartz
Both Clear Quartz and Selenite (or Satin Spar) are powerful cleansers and they can be used to remove energy from Red Calcite.
The easiest way to cleanse using this method is if you have a Clear Quartz or a Selenite bowl or charging plate – that way you can just place your Red Calcite inside or atop it and let it get to work.
If you don’t have a plate or bowl though, it doesn’t matter. You can still cleanse your Red Calcite using a tumblestone or a wand.
Take your tumblestone and place it on top of or right next to your Red Calcite and leave it to cleanse for a few hours.
Using Mother Earth
Earth is the most powerful grounding tool, and it’s also a fantastic cleanser. You can use Mother Earth to remove unwanted energy from your Red Calcite.
To do this, dig a small hole in your back garden and place the Red Calcite in it – cover it over gently with soil and leave it for a few hours.
It’s important to only do this outside if the ground is dry and no rain is forecast.
You can also complete this cleansing ritual inside my bringing some earth in and placing it in a bowl with your crystal inside. Return the soil outside afterward.
Smudging With Herbs
Smudging is one of the most common crystal cleansing methods as it has been used for centuries and the items you need are readily available in spiritual shops.
You can choose a bundle of Clary Sage, White Sage, Lavender, or Rosemary to cleanse your crystals. You can also select Palo Santo (a holy wood) instead.
Take your bundle of herbs and set it alight. Allow it to burn for just a short while before gently blowing out the flame.
Next, pass your Red Calcite through the smoke to remove all unwanted energy.
Using Incense
Incense is often a cheaper alternative to using bundles of herbs or even Palo Santo, but it’s just as effective.
I’d recommend choosing Dragon’s Blood, Sage, Lavender, or Rosemary incense to cleanse your Red Calcite.
You can follow the steps above and pass the crystal through the smoke to cleanse it.
Using Sound
Sound is another powerful healer and can be used to shift unwanted energy.
I personally like to use my shamanic drum if I’m going to cleanse a crystal with sound, but you can also use a singing bowl or Tibetan Tingshas to the same effect.
Play your chosen instrument near your Red Calcite and allow the sound waves to remove negative energy.

When your Red Calcite has been fully cleansed, you can recharge it.
The best method for charging Red Calcite is to use the moon.
It’s best to wait for the full moon as her energies are most potent then. When the full moon arrives, place your crystal outside – if it’s a dry night – and allow them to soak up the moon’s energy to recharge.
If the ground is wet, or it’s likely to rain, it’s best to place your Red Calcite on the windowsill in full moonlight instead.
I’d recommend choosing moon charging over charging by sunlight as the sun may cause this crystal to fade.
How To Activate Red Calcite
Now that your Red Calcite is cleansed and re-charged, it’s time to programme it for its next use.
The easiest way to activate your Red Calcite is by holding it in one hand, closing your eyes, and stating what you want to use the crystal for.
